A digital platform for doctoral researchers. It provides a toolkit of resources to help navigate doctoral study/the doctoral journey and in doing so enable doctoral researchers to foster a healthy sense of wellbeing.

Within RWC you will find resources to help you navigate many different elements of the doctoral journey. Examples include working with your supervisors, managing your time, and keeping motivated. These are housed under the categories you can find on the home page.

We identified the categories by consulting peer-reviewed literature and through workshops with doctoral students at Aberystwyth University, Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, University of Wales Trinity Saint David and the University of South Wales. This ensured that the topics were relevant and selected with doctoral researchers for doctoral researchers.

We identified bespoke resources to populate the different topic areas. You will find an array of different mediums such as videos, podcasts, journal articles, open access web-resources to support your needs.

Yes.

Doctoral researchers from universities across Wales were involved in creating resources. Student stories offer experiential accounts of doctoral study with an emphasis on the types of challenges involved, what individuals have done to negotiate them, and what they do to relax. Some participants made videos about their experiences or general day in the life stories. Others have set up specific groups.

Yes. Feeling a sense of belonging and community is commonly reported as an important part of being a doctoral student. We have a dedicated section for Community where you will find opportunities to connect with peers. These include taking part in an online group; joining a regular sit down and write session, where you can connect with others whilst working on the doctorate; and even guidance should you wish to set up your own group.
